a berlin startup just shipped a database built for agent traffic. serenedb krummelanke, out september 22, is an open source apache 2.0 search and analytics engine for fleets of ai agents querying enterprise data.
databases are being rebuilt around who asks the questions.
Context
SereneDB's press release of September 22, 2026, distributed through ACCESS Newswire, says the Berlin company released Krummelanke, the first production-ready version of its real-time search analytics database, as open source. The repository page states Apache License 2.0. The company describes full-text search plus analytics in one Postgres- and Elastic-compatible engine, a local hot set with the rest in object storage such as Amazon S3 still searchable, disk-resident vector indexes, 10x+ compression, and scale-out via federation, with multi-node compute and storage separation on the public roadmap for next year. Blocks and Files of September 22 reports the company's claims.
Production-ready, fastest search engine in the world and outperforming Lucene and Tantivy on Tantivy's public benchmark are the company's own claims, the full benchmarks on its own page were not read, and no independent test was read. Multi-node is a roadmap item and not shipped. Built for agent traffic and fleets of agents repeat the company's positioning. Databases are being rebuilt around who asks the questions is the author's take.

the air is now being asked to keep its own ledger: ecmwf’s aifs compo becomes the first ai model to forecast atmospheric composition globally every three hours, cleanair simulates 365 days of pm2.5 over china in ten seconds, and a unified framework maps six pollutants at one kilometer across the whole country. the air now files its own composition report.

the current is now being asked to draw its own map: china’s langya 2.0 predicts six ocean phenomena including internal waves and mesoscale eddies, a deep net called wenhai resolves eddies globally with air sea flux formulas built in, and scripps infers surface currents from the way temperature patterns deform in satellite images. the ocean now files its own circulation report.

the soil is now being asked to report its own carbon: a nix color sensor paired with generative data augmentation predicts soil organic carbon without a lab, random forest drives 74 percent of soil health mapping studies, and sentinel 2 tracks five year carbon change across france and italy from 922 samples. the dirt now files its own carbon account.
