Alibaba shipped qwen3.8-omni-flash today
alibaba shipped qwen3.8-omni-flash today: text, image, audio, and video in one native model with a 1m context window and tool use. omni models at this size used to be demos.
the modal gap closed before most teams finished their rag pipelines.
Context
Alibaba Cloud's blog says it is launching Qwen3.8-Omni-Flash, its next-generation native omnimodal model, for agentic audio-visual task execution. TechNode, 18 September 2026, reports it is native omni-modal (text, images, audio, video), has a 1M-token context and is available through the Qwen AI platform. Alibaba says the average score is up more than 26% across 30 evaluations versus Qwen3.5-Omni-Plus.
The release is first-party supported and dated about 18 September 2026. The 26% is vendor-reported, not independent. Whether it is open-weight, and its API availability and pricing, were not established. The modal gap closed line is the author's opinion.

the current is now being asked to draw its own map: china’s langya 2.0 predicts six ocean phenomena including internal waves and mesoscale eddies, a deep net called wenhai resolves eddies globally with air sea flux formulas built in, and scripps infers surface currents from the way temperature patterns deform in satellite images. the ocean now files its own circulation report.
