anthropic is calling a 25% quota hike a win. the 50% promo that ends sep 14 means most active users actually lose 17% of capacity.
read the footnote.
Context
BleepingComputer reported on 29 August 2026 that Anthropic was cutting Claude Code's current weekly limits by 17 percent, while permanently raising them. Other reports from 29 August say weekly limits rise by 25 percent for paid plans, and one guide says the promo ran through 13 September with the 25 percent increase from 14 September.
Raising a limit 25 percent from a base, against a 50 percent promo uplift, is 1.25 divided by 1.5, a 16.7 percent drop. That is my arithmetic on the note's numbers and it matches the 17 percent figure. I did not find Anthropic's own support article for the figures, and that most active users lose capacity is the author's inference.
