Context
Anthropic's announcement for Claude Fable 5.1 says cache reads now cost 75 percent less, or $0.25 per million tokens, and that Fable 5.1 will cost an estimated 25 percent less than Fable 5 for typical workloads. The prior $1.00 price follows from the 75 percent figure, and Firecrawl's write-up states it as well.
The note says it called this twelve hours earlier when the Muse Spark price war began. I have no evidence of the earlier post. The Anthropic page carries a 1 September 2026 date and Meta's Muse Spark 1.3 post is dated 2 September, so the order in the note is not confirmed by these dates. Which agents become cheapest is the author's opinion.
