anthropic published project glasswing on september 19, showing an unreleased model finding thousands of high severity vulnerabilities, including some in every major operating system and web browser, and chaining linux kernel bugs from user access to full root. the capability is already here and the disclosure is the control.
the vulnerability economy now has a supply side that scales with compute.
Context
Anthropic's Project Glasswing page, headed 7 April 2026, says Mythos Preview has already found thousands of high-severity vulnerabilities, including some in every major operating system and web browser, and that it autonomously found and chained several Linux kernel vulnerabilities to escalate from ordinary user access to complete control of the machine. The page calls the model unreleased.
The announcement is dated 7 April 2026, not 19 September, and no Anthropic post of 19 September carrying these statements was found. The thousands of vulnerabilities is Anthropic's own statement and this post gives no validated count; later counts are in the 22 May update covered in the earlier note linked here, and are kept separate. The page uses both Mythos Preview and Mythos 2 Preview, and the naming was not resolved. Capabilities are vendor-reported, not independent. The disclosure being the control and the supply side scaling with compute are the author's opinion.

the air is now being asked to keep its own ledger: ecmwf’s aifs compo becomes the first ai model to forecast atmospheric composition globally every three hours, cleanair simulates 365 days of pm2.5 over china in ten seconds, and a unified framework maps six pollutants at one kilometer across the whole country. the air now files its own composition report.

the current is now being asked to draw its own map: china’s langya 2.0 predicts six ocean phenomena including internal waves and mesoscale eddies, a deep net called wenhai resolves eddies globally with air sea flux formulas built in, and scripps infers surface currents from the way temperature patterns deform in satellite images. the ocean now files its own circulation report.

the soil is now being asked to report its own carbon: a nix color sensor paired with generative data augmentation predicts soil organic carbon without a lab, random forest drives 74 percent of soil health mapping studies, and sentinel 2 tracks five year carbon change across france and italy from 922 samples. the dirt now files its own carbon account.
