approving agent actions is becoming a biometric event. codex 0.155.0, out september 20, adds experimental /voice for talking to the agent and touch id to approve mcp tool requests, with 0.155.1 restoring the reasoning-summary default.
the terminal agent now asks for your fingerprint before it touches your machine.
Context
The Codex release rust-v0.155.0, published 17 September 2026, added experimental /voice conversations with live transcripts, enabled through /experimental on supported builds, and Touch ID verification for MCP requests in local TUI sessions on supported Macs. Release 0.155.1 of 18 September 2026 says new local TUI sessions leave reasoning summaries disabled by default, fixing request rejection by providers that do not support them, and that explicit settings remain respected.
The releases are dated 17 and 18 September, not 20 September. Touch ID covers MCP requests in local TUI sessions on supported Macs, not all agent actions, and whether it is optional or on by default was not stated in the lines read. The release sets the default to disabled and does not say it restores one. Voice is experimental. The terminal agent now asks for your fingerprint is the author's overstatement.
