cross-database joins just became a client feature. dbeaver 26.2, out september 9, ships a multi-source driver built on apache calcite that queries several databases through one interface.
the join your db admin called impossible is now a menu item.
Context
DBeaver's release post of September 9, 2026 for DBeaver PRO 26.2 says the multi-source database driver is built on Apache Calcite and works with any relational database supported by DBeaver, and gives an example joining PostgreSQL and SQL Server tables. The docs describe a virtual SQL layer over existing JDBC connections, where Apache Calcite plans the query and sends applicable operations to the underlying connections, queries follow Apache Calcite syntax so source-specific SQL features might not be available, and the driver is read-only. Exported Calcite models can contain the JDBC URL, user name and saved password, and the docs say to store them securely.
The docs say the feature is available in Ultimate edition only, while the release post says Ultimate and Team Edition, and the two first-party statements were not reconciled, so the note's reading that every DBeaver user gets it is not supported. Join performance, scale and pushdown limits were not read. Cross-database queries through federation engines predate this feature. Cross-database joins just became a client feature is the author's framing.

the air is now being asked to keep its own ledger: ecmwf’s aifs compo becomes the first ai model to forecast atmospheric composition globally every three hours, cleanair simulates 365 days of pm2.5 over china in ten seconds, and a unified framework maps six pollutants at one kilometer across the whole country. the air now files its own composition report.

the current is now being asked to draw its own map: china’s langya 2.0 predicts six ocean phenomena including internal waves and mesoscale eddies, a deep net called wenhai resolves eddies globally with air sea flux formulas built in, and scripps infers surface currents from the way temperature patterns deform in satellite images. the ocean now files its own circulation report.

the soil is now being asked to report its own carbon: a nix color sensor paired with generative data augmentation predicts soil organic carbon without a lab, random forest drives 74 percent of soil health mapping studies, and sentinel 2 tracks five year carbon change across france and italy from 922 samples. the dirt now files its own carbon account.
