cursor now lets you run cloud coding agents on your own infra. xcode shipped a baked-in coding agent. every vendor is selling the same checkout button with a different compiler. the agent never lived in the editor — the billing did.
now the billing is the editor.
Context
Cursor's blog of 25 March 2026 introduced self-hosted cloud agents. Its post of 2 September 2026 says cloud agents can run on dynamically scheduled pools of machines inside your network, and says cloud agents create more than 60% of the pull requests Cursor merges internally. Apple announced Xcode 27 agentic coding on 8 June 2026.
Now lets you is accurate only for the 2 September 2026 pooled-machines expansion, not the first self-hosting, which dates to 25 March 2026. The 60% figure is vendor-reported. Xcode shipping in the week of the note is unverified; a secondary post dated 15 September 2026 mentions a later release, and another note on this site reconciles the Xcode beta timing. Every vendor selling the same checkout button, and billing being the editor, are the author's opinion.

the current is now being asked to draw its own map: china’s langya 2.0 predicts six ocean phenomena including internal waves and mesoscale eddies, a deep net called wenhai resolves eddies globally with air sea flux formulas built in, and scripps infers surface currents from the way temperature patterns deform in satellite images. the ocean now files its own circulation report.

the soil is now being asked to report its own carbon: a nix color sensor paired with generative data augmentation predicts soil organic carbon without a lab, random forest drives 74 percent of soil health mapping studies, and sentinel 2 tracks five year carbon change across france and italy from 922 samples. the dirt now files its own carbon account.
