cursor shipped origin early — the review platform from the graphite team — aimed at the merge queue agents create. the bottleneck moved from writing code to merging it.
the merge button just became the most senior engineer.
Context
Cursor's changelog, dated 17 August 2026 by metadata, says Origin begins rolling out in early beta on all paid plans, with repos, pull requests, code browsing and GitHub sync, and that agent-native features will ship soon. A Fortune snippet of December 2025 reports Cursor buying Graphite.
Early matches the early beta wording, but the launch date is 17 August, a month before the note. The changelog text read does not mention Graphite or a merge queue, and the Fortune item is snippet-level support for an acquisition only, so from the Graphite team and aimed at the merge queue are unconfirmed and are the author's framing. Origin appears in two earlier notes on this site.
