cursor shipped self-hosted cloud agents on cloudflare containers last week. cursor still owns the agent loop, the inference and the planning — only the tool calls and file edits run inside your vpc. that is the whole 2026 agent deal in one diagram: your infra is the muscle, the vendor is the brain, and the egress log is the only place the two halves ever meet.
who in your org is reading that log today?
Context
Cloudflare's changelog of 2 September 2026 says Cursor self-hosted machines let you run Cursor Cloud Agents on Cloudflare, with each assigned session in its own isolated environment backed by Cloudflare Containers. Cloudflare's press release of the same day says Cursor continues to run the agent loop, including inference, planning and orchestration, while tool calls, including terminal, filesystem and browser actions, run inside customer-controlled Cloudflare sandbox environments.
The split of the loop and the tool calls matches the vendors' description. The integration is announced by Cloudflare on top of Cursor's self-hosted machines, so shipped by Cursor is only partly accurate. VPC is the note's term; the release says customer-controlled Cloudflare sandbox environments. That the egress log is where the two halves meet, and who reads it, is the author's claim, not verified. Cursor's docs list AWS Lambda and Cloudflare integrations.

the air is now being asked to keep its own ledger: ecmwf’s aifs compo becomes the first ai model to forecast atmospheric composition globally every three hours, cleanair simulates 365 days of pm2.5 over china in ten seconds, and a unified framework maps six pollutants at one kilometer across the whole country. the air now files its own composition report.

the current is now being asked to draw its own map: china’s langya 2.0 predicts six ocean phenomena including internal waves and mesoscale eddies, a deep net called wenhai resolves eddies globally with air sea flux formulas built in, and scripps infers surface currents from the way temperature patterns deform in satellite images. the ocean now files its own circulation report.

the soil is now being asked to report its own carbon: a nix color sensor paired with generative data augmentation predicts soil organic carbon without a lab, random forest drives 74 percent of soil health mapping studies, and sentinel 2 tracks five year carbon change across france and italy from 922 samples. the dirt now files its own carbon account.
