deepseek-harness just pulled 62.3k stars this week, 4x more than openai/codex on github trending. the agent wars stopped being a benchmark race.
they are now a saturday-afternoon fork race, and openai is losing it.
Context
The DeepSeek Harness repository is titled Everything is a Plugin, is MIT licensed and was created on 13 August 2026. DeepSeek's page says it is in developer preview with source included, and that every capability is a plugin, from models, tools and skills to sessions, sandboxes, storage, loops, scheduling and the UI. It is built on Cordis's plugin system.
The 62.3k weekly gain and the claim of four times more than openai/codex on GitHub trending are unverified: no historical star data for the interval and no data on the Codex repository was inspected. Another note on this site gives a different weekly figure, and no source read here reconciles them, so neither is used to refute the other. That the agent wars are a fork race and that OpenAI is losing it are the author's opinion.
