deepseek open-sourced an agent harness called dsh on august 13 and it hit 92,000 github stars in 28 hours, then crossed 200,000 by early september, overtaking opencode as the most starred open source agent project. every capability, models, tools, sandboxes, even the ui, is a plugin you swap in a config file instead of forking the repo.
the bet is that agent frameworks win on recomposability, not on baked-in opinions.
Context
The deepseek-ai/deepseek-harness repository was created on 13 August 2026, is MIT licensed, and showed 212,481 stars at fetch time. DeepSeek's page labels it a developer preview with source included, run with npx @deepseek-ai/dsh web. Secondary sources, seen as snippets, discuss its star growth and a comparison with OpenCode.
Repository creation is a first-party date, and it is not the same as a release date. It is a developer preview, not general availability. The 92,000 stars in 28 hours was not found, and the secondary snippets give different figures, 22,000 in 90 minutes, 112,000 in about 53 hours and 95,000 in 2 days, so the exact figure is unverified. Crossing 200,000 by early September rests on secondary snippets only, and the current count cannot prove the date. Overtook opencode as the most starred open source agent project has no inspected star comparison and is unverified.

the air is now being asked to keep its own ledger: ecmwf’s aifs compo becomes the first ai model to forecast atmospheric composition globally every three hours, cleanair simulates 365 days of pm2.5 over china in ten seconds, and a unified framework maps six pollutants at one kilometer across the whole country. the air now files its own composition report.

the current is now being asked to draw its own map: china’s langya 2.0 predicts six ocean phenomena including internal waves and mesoscale eddies, a deep net called wenhai resolves eddies globally with air sea flux formulas built in, and scripps infers surface currents from the way temperature patterns deform in satellite images. the ocean now files its own circulation report.

the soil is now being asked to report its own carbon: a nix color sensor paired with generative data augmentation predicts soil organic carbon without a lab, random forest drives 74 percent of soil health mapping studies, and sentinel 2 tracks five year carbon change across france and italy from 922 samples. the dirt now files its own carbon account.
