documentation answers just moved into the cli. google's gcloud beta developer-knowledge, out september 9, runs answer-query grounded in developer docs straight from the terminal.
the doc search box is now a command.
Context
Google Cloud's gcloud reference lists a beta developer-knowledge command group, last updated September 22, 2026 UTC, with answer-query described as answering a natural language query using grounded generation, and a documents group. The Developer Knowledge release notes say the AnswerQuery endpoint became generally available on July 17, 2026, after it was introduced in the API on April 20. The gcloud SDK release notes read showed 583.0.0 dated September 1, 2026 as the latest entry, with no developer-knowledge entry found.
A September 9 date for the CLI was not found in any first-party source read, so it is unverified. The reference page's last-updated date is September 22, a later window that does not date the launch, and the July 17 general availability is for the API endpoint, a separate event from the CLI. The answer-query command page itself failed to load in the check. The text says grounded generation over the Developer Knowledge corpus, and the corpus scope was not stated in what was read, so grounded in developer docs is not scoped by the sources.
