enterprise agents just got permission to work for days, not minutes. salesforce's agentforce long-horizon runtime, out september 11, lets agents pursue goals across days and weeks instead of single interactions.

the session is now the unit of work.

Context

Salesforce's news story of 11 September 2026 says it built a new long-horizon runtime for Agentforce so agents can pursue goals across days and weeks, and that Hunter, an outbound sales agent, works pipelines over weeks and months, with Pilot now and GA in November 2026. Guardrails define when it can act autonomously and when seller approval is required. A Salesforce blog says Hunter is the first agent on the runtime, more will follow, and customers will later build their own with Agent Script.

How it compares

The runtime was announced on 11 September and the first agent is a pilot with GA in November 2026, so out overstates availability. Permission to work for days is the note's framing; the text describes plan approval and guardrails. The session is now the unit of work is the author's take.
