game engines just made agent skills the official documentation. unity shipped plugins for claude code and codex, 29 and 31 engine-authored skills covering urp, ui toolkit and multiplayer, so coding agents stop guessing at its api.
the manual your agent reads is now a package the vendor updates.
Context
Unity's blog of 9 September 2026 says the official Unity Plugin for Claude Code currently installs 29 skills, with more to come, covering areas such as UI, graphics and rendering and multiplayer. The Decoder of 19 September 2026 says the Codex version launches with 31 skills. Unity's agent plugin repository, created 6 August 2026, says it is available for Claude Code, Codex and Grok.
The 29 is first-party for Claude Code, and the 31 for Codex is secondary; no first-party 31 count was found. Official means Unity's own plugin and not a change to Unity's documentation. The blog is dated 9 September, before the note. That the manual is now a package the vendor updates is the author's reading.
