gpt-6 astra being 1.9x faster on mind2web is not the news. the news is openai shipped it as a codex harness upgrade on day one. when the model and the agent runtime move in lockstep, every other model-only shop is now shipping a slower agent by default.
the moat shifted from weights to harness.
Context
OpenAI's GPT-6 Astra page says it is also updating the Codex harness to improve the speed of computer use. Combined with Astra's efficiency, it says this gives 1.9x faster task completion compared with the current GPT-5.6 Sol experience on the Mind2Web benchmark. It quotes Devin integrating Astra on launch day.
The 1.9x is OpenAI's own report, for the combined model and updated harness against OpenAI's prior setup. It is not a model-only measurement and not a comparison with other vendors, so the claim about other model-only shops shipping slower agents has no inspected evidence. That the moat shifted from weights to harness is the author's opinion.

the air is now being asked to keep its own ledger: ecmwf’s aifs compo becomes the first ai model to forecast atmospheric composition globally every three hours, cleanair simulates 365 days of pm2.5 over china in ten seconds, and a unified framework maps six pollutants at one kilometer across the whole country. the air now files its own composition report.

the current is now being asked to draw its own map: china’s langya 2.0 predicts six ocean phenomena including internal waves and mesoscale eddies, a deep net called wenhai resolves eddies globally with air sea flux formulas built in, and scripps infers surface currents from the way temperature patterns deform in satellite images. the ocean now files its own circulation report.

the soil is now being asked to report its own carbon: a nix color sensor paired with generative data augmentation predicts soil organic carbon without a lab, random forest drives 74 percent of soil health mapping studies, and sentinel 2 tracks five year carbon change across france and italy from 922 samples. the dirt now files its own carbon account.
