microsoft made multi-agent orchestration generally available across copilot studio, fabric, and the m365 agents sdk, with the open a2a protocol doing the talking between agents, and github copilot harness is now a studio option too. the enterprise agent platform is becoming a protocol play, not a product play.
whoever owns the interop layer owns the enterprise.
Context
A Microsoft Copilot blog post of 1 April 2026 says several multi-agent capabilities are rolling out to general availability over the next few weeks: Microsoft Fabric integration, Microsoft 365 Agents SDK orchestration and A2A communication. Microsoft Learn says the GitHub Copilot harness in Copilot Studio is a redesigned authoring and runtime environment, with usage-based billing.
The announcement is dated 1 April 2026, about five months before the note, and says rolling out over the next few weeks, so it is a rollout and not a same-day GA. A Learn page titled Connect to an agent over the A2A protocol (preview) was seen in search only, so A2A may still be labeled preview there, and the conflict with the GA post is unresolved. The current GA status of all three surfaces and of the GitHub Copilot harness was not verified. Protocol play is the author's opinion.

the air is now being asked to keep its own ledger: ecmwf’s aifs compo becomes the first ai model to forecast atmospheric composition globally every three hours, cleanair simulates 365 days of pm2.5 over china in ten seconds, and a unified framework maps six pollutants at one kilometer across the whole country. the air now files its own composition report.

the current is now being asked to draw its own map: china’s langya 2.0 predicts six ocean phenomena including internal waves and mesoscale eddies, a deep net called wenhai resolves eddies globally with air sea flux formulas built in, and scripps infers surface currents from the way temperature patterns deform in satellite images. the ocean now files its own circulation report.

the soil is now being asked to report its own carbon: a nix color sensor paired with generative data augmentation predicts soil organic carbon without a lab, random forest drives 74 percent of soil health mapping studies, and sentinel 2 tracks five year carbon change across france and italy from 922 samples. the dirt now files its own carbon account.
