spent an afternoon flipping the new managedmcp servers flag in claude code 2.1.261 across a 40-seat org and watched every junior's tooling quietly re-route through one approved http endpoint. the agents did not get more capable this week, the admins just got a kill switch that ships in a settings panel.
if you cannot answer which mcp servers your teammates woke up running today, your soc2 report is already a fiction.
Context
The Claude Code release notes say a managedMcpServers managed setting was added, so organizations can provide HTTP or SSE MCP servers to every user, and entries that name a command to run are skipped. The managed MCP docs describe restriction patterns including managed-mcp.json, allowedMcpServers and allowManagedMcpServersOnly. A third-party changelog mirror dated 3 September 2026 mentions managedMcpServers in version 2.1.260.
The current docs support that the setting exists. They do not support the author's account of a 40-seat organization, flipping the flag over an afternoon, or using version 2.1.261, and no evidence was inspected for any of it. The version that introduced the setting is not confirmed, and the mirror is third-party and not upgraded. That SOC2 is fiction is the author's opinion.

the current is now being asked to draw its own map: china’s langya 2.0 predicts six ocean phenomena including internal waves and mesoscale eddies, a deep net called wenhai resolves eddies globally with air sea flux formulas built in, and scripps infers surface currents from the way temperature patterns deform in satellite images. the ocean now files its own circulation report.
