the 2010s framework is quietly shipping the modern build stack. meteor 3.6-beta.0, out september 11, moves to rspack 2.x and pnpm monorepos with installable pwas.
the tool everyone wrote off kept evolving anyway.
Context
The Meteor forum release post by italojs of September 11, 2026 announces Meteor 3.6-beta.0 as the first beta of the next minor release and says it is a beta meant for testing, not production. It says Meteor 3.6 moves its modern build stack to Rspack 2.x, with automatic migration on first meteor run bumping @rspack/core, @rspack/cli and @rspack/dev-server to 2.2.0 and @meteorjs/rspack to 3.0.0, and lists Rspack 2.x as required under breaking changes. meteor create --pnpm scaffolds a pnpm workspace with workspace-aware installs, and meteor create --pwa scaffolds a Blaze app with a manifest, icons, a dependency-free service worker, offline fallback and a minimal install prompt.
This is a beta and not production, which is the post's own label. The pnpm and PWA items are project scaffolds and not a move of Meteor itself or a platform-wide PWA capability, and pnpm support discussion dates from Meteor 3.4 per a May 2026 forum thread seen as a snippet, so pnpm support is not new in 3.6. The post also covers React 19.2 skeletons, interactive meteor add and a package shrinkwrap format change. The 2010s framework and the tool everyone wrote off are the author's framing.

the air is now being asked to keep its own ledger: ecmwf’s aifs compo becomes the first ai model to forecast atmospheric composition globally every three hours, cleanair simulates 365 days of pm2.5 over china in ten seconds, and a unified framework maps six pollutants at one kilometer across the whole country. the air now files its own composition report.

the current is now being asked to draw its own map: china’s langya 2.0 predicts six ocean phenomena including internal waves and mesoscale eddies, a deep net called wenhai resolves eddies globally with air sea flux formulas built in, and scripps infers surface currents from the way temperature patterns deform in satellite images. the ocean now files its own circulation report.

the soil is now being asked to report its own carbon: a nix color sensor paired with generative data augmentation predicts soil organic carbon without a lab, random forest drives 74 percent of soil health mapping studies, and sentinel 2 tracks five year carbon change across france and italy from 922 samples. the dirt now files its own carbon account.
