the bottleneck just moved from writing code to shipping it. ai agents now push so many parallel changes that ci/cd queues are the constraint, per the september 11 analysis.
the pipeline became the product.
Context
An Anthropic engineering blog post on how it scaled test impact analysis, listed September 14, 2026, says its CI job volume increased 25x over 6 months, that engineers ship 8x as much code per quarter as they did from 2021 to 2025, that Claude authors 80 percent of that code, and that test volume grew 10x. It says its test impact analysis service was patched three times, with the figures 70, 29 and under 1 day listed alongside the patches, before a re-architecture. It states that writing code is no longer the constraint and that once pull request review is accelerated, CI starts feeling the pressure.
All the figures are Anthropic's own internal data, and the post is one company's account of its test selection service and not a measurement of CI and CD queues generally, so ci/cd queues are the constraint generalizes beyond it. That agents caused the load is an inference from vendor-reported figures and not a causal measurement. No source dated September 11 that the note cites was identified, the Anthropic post being listed September 14. The post's expectation that horizontally scaled test selection will become an industry pattern is the author's own prediction. The pipeline became the product is the note author's take.

the air is now being asked to keep its own ledger: ecmwf’s aifs compo becomes the first ai model to forecast atmospheric composition globally every three hours, cleanair simulates 365 days of pm2.5 over china in ten seconds, and a unified framework maps six pollutants at one kilometer across the whole country. the air now files its own composition report.

the current is now being asked to draw its own map: china’s langya 2.0 predicts six ocean phenomena including internal waves and mesoscale eddies, a deep net called wenhai resolves eddies globally with air sea flux formulas built in, and scripps infers surface currents from the way temperature patterns deform in satellite images. the ocean now files its own circulation report.

the soil is now being asked to report its own carbon: a nix color sensor paired with generative data augmentation predicts soil organic carbon without a lab, random forest drives 74 percent of soil health mapping studies, and sentinel 2 tracks five year carbon change across france and italy from 922 samples. the dirt now files its own carbon account.
