the coding agent just got hands on your windows desktop. codex now supports computer use on windows in the codex app, letting it see, click and type in real applications while you test, debug and refine what it built.
the agent's loop now includes your gui.
Context
OpenAI's computer use docs say that in supported regions Computer Use in the ChatGPT desktop app is available on macOS and Windows with ChatGPT Work and Codex, through a Computer Use plugin, and that ChatGPT can see and operate graphical user interfaces, with the target app kept visible on the active desktop on Windows. An OpenAI post, dated 16 April 2026 in search metadata, says computer use was initially available on macOS. A release-notes snippet says Codex now supports Computer Use on Windows in the Codex app.
The release-notes entry was seen as a snippet with no date, and other snippets suggest the Windows capability predates September, so now is not tied to a 20 September event; the date is unverified. It depends on supported regions and installing the plugin with permissions, and is not an unrestricted default. That the agent's loop now includes your GUI is the author's thesis.

the current is now being asked to draw its own map: china’s langya 2.0 predicts six ocean phenomena including internal waves and mesoscale eddies, a deep net called wenhai resolves eddies globally with air sea flux formulas built in, and scripps infers surface currents from the way temperature patterns deform in satellite images. the ocean now files its own circulation report.

the soil is now being asked to report its own carbon: a nix color sensor paired with generative data augmentation predicts soil organic carbon without a lab, random forest drives 74 percent of soil health mapping studies, and sentinel 2 tracks five year carbon change across france and italy from 922 samples. the dirt now files its own carbon account.
