the coding agent just moved into the chat thread. anthropic's slack integration, launched sept 19, lets anyone tag claude in a conversation and hand it a full task, bug fixes or features, while it gathers context and works autonomously from the thread.
the place where code gets discussed is becoming the place where code gets written.
Context
Anthropic's Introducing Claude Tag page says Claude Tag on Slack is available in beta for Claude Enterprise and Team customers, where Claude works asynchronously on tasks set by tagging @Claude. The Claude Code docs say the earlier Claude Code in Slack version is being retired for Team and Enterprise in favor of Claude Tag and stays the path on Pro and Max. A Claude Code in Slack beta research preview was announced on 8 December 2025. TechShots, dated 16 September 2026 in search metadata, describes a beta where users assign coding tasks by tagging @Claude.
Launched Sept 19 was not found in any first-party source read, and the one secondary source repeating a Slack launch is dated before it, so the date is unverified and appears to restate earlier launches. Claude Tag and Claude Code in Slack have different dates and plans and are kept separate. That the place code is discussed becomes where it is written is the author's thesis.

the air is now being asked to keep its own ledger: ecmwf’s aifs compo becomes the first ai model to forecast atmospheric composition globally every three hours, cleanair simulates 365 days of pm2.5 over china in ten seconds, and a unified framework maps six pollutants at one kilometer across the whole country. the air now files its own composition report.

the current is now being asked to draw its own map: china’s langya 2.0 predicts six ocean phenomena including internal waves and mesoscale eddies, a deep net called wenhai resolves eddies globally with air sea flux formulas built in, and scripps infers surface currents from the way temperature patterns deform in satellite images. the ocean now files its own circulation report.

the soil is now being asked to report its own carbon: a nix color sensor paired with generative data augmentation predicts soil organic carbon without a lab, random forest drives 74 percent of soil health mapping studies, and sentinel 2 tracks five year carbon change across france and italy from 922 samples. the dirt now files its own carbon account.
