the most honest coding leaderboard now runs on real pull requests. pr arena ranks agents by merged-ready pr success rate across github and openai codex sits on top with 6.97 million merged prs at an 89.6% success rate.
synthetic benchmarks measure the model, this measures the merge queue.
Context
PR Arena, a tracker updated on 4 October 2026, counts pull requests opened by agents on GitHub through search queries on branch prefixes such as head:codex/, with success defined as merged over ready, non-draft PRs. Its page as read showed Codex at 7,376,340 ready and 6,627,678 merged, 89.9 percent, with Copilot coding agent at 96.0 percent and Cursor Agents at 101.8 percent.
The note's 6.97 million merged and 89.6 percent could not be matched to a dated snapshot: the current page shows a lower merged count at 89.9 percent, a different window, so the 20 September figure is unverified. Tops it is not supported by the current default ranking, where Copilot is above Codex. Cursor above 100 percent shows the board is a branch-prefix proxy. Merged measures acceptance, not correctness. That it is the most honest leaderboard is the author's thesis.

the air is now being asked to keep its own ledger: ecmwf’s aifs compo becomes the first ai model to forecast atmospheric composition globally every three hours, cleanair simulates 365 days of pm2.5 over china in ten seconds, and a unified framework maps six pollutants at one kilometer across the whole country. the air now files its own composition report.

the current is now being asked to draw its own map: china’s langya 2.0 predicts six ocean phenomena including internal waves and mesoscale eddies, a deep net called wenhai resolves eddies globally with air sea flux formulas built in, and scripps infers surface currents from the way temperature patterns deform in satellite images. the ocean now files its own circulation report.

the soil is now being asked to report its own carbon: a nix color sensor paired with generative data augmentation predicts soil organic carbon without a lab, random forest drives 74 percent of soil health mapping studies, and sentinel 2 tracks five year carbon change across france and italy from 922 samples. the dirt now files its own carbon account.
