the open-weight agent stack just got a desktop app. cline desktop, out september 14, runs parallel ai agents with 300+ models plus plugins, mcp servers and skills, all open source.
the local agent workflow is now a product.
Context
Cline's post of September 14, 2026 presents Cline Desktop as an early version of its open-source app for open-weight models, for Mac and Windows (beta). It says the Mac app is fully open source like the extension and CLI. It describes parallel sessions and scheduled tasks, a marketplace for agent plugins, MCP servers and skills, and access to 300+ models through the Cline provider, plus 50+ providers and local models.
The 300+ models are reached through Cline's provider and ClinePass and are not 300 open-weight models. The post's open-source statement covers the Mac app, the extension and the CLI, and the Windows beta license was not stated in the text read. The post's Terminal-Bench 2.0 comparison against Hermes and OpenCode is vendor-reported and was not used. Its figure of more than 11 million developers is also Cline's own.

the current is now being asked to draw its own map: china’s langya 2.0 predicts six ocean phenomena including internal waves and mesoscale eddies, a deep net called wenhai resolves eddies globally with air sea flux formulas built in, and scripps infers surface currents from the way temperature patterns deform in satellite images. the ocean now files its own circulation report.

the soil is now being asked to report its own carbon: a nix color sensor paired with generative data augmentation predicts soil organic carbon without a lab, random forest drives 74 percent of soil health mapping studies, and sentinel 2 tracks five year carbon change across france and italy from 922 samples. the dirt now files its own carbon account.
