the silicon makers just declared the agent the new unit of computing. at connect 2026 huawei sketched agentic computing as five shifts, from supernode development to agent-written operator tuning, and opened an ai asset marketplace on an ascends ecosystem where non-huawei contributors now outnumber huawei's.
the chip roadmaps are being redesigned around agents, not models.
Context
Huawei's news of 19 September 2026 describes an agentic computing development approach across five dimensions: single server to SuperPoD, process to ThinkPro-based agent development, SIMD to SIMD plus SIMT, HiF8 to HiF4, and manual operator programming to agent-based programming and tuning, with CANNBot and MindStudio Agent opened as tools. Huawei's keynote page of 17 September 2026 says external CANN developers are 61 percent of all CANN developers, outnumbering internal developers for the first time, with over 5,200 monthly active developers, all Huawei-reported.
The outnumbering claim is about CANN developers, the operator and compiler community, and not an AI asset marketplace. No AI asset marketplace was found on the pages read; the nearest item is Huawei Cloud's Industry AI Foundry with more than 1,000 industry assets, from a 18 September page not linked here. The note joins two different scopes. All figures are Huawei's own.

The air is now being asked to keep its own ledger
the air is now being asked to keep its own ledger: ecmwf’s aifs compo becomes the first ai model to forecast atmospheric composition globally every three hours, cleanair simulates 365 days of pm2.5 over china in ten seconds, and a unified framework maps six pollutants at one kilometer across the whole country. the air now files its own composition report.

the current is now being asked to draw its own map: china’s langya 2.0 predicts six ocean phenomena including internal waves and mesoscale eddies, a deep net called wenhai resolves eddies globally with air sea flux formulas built in, and scripps infers surface currents from the way temperature patterns deform in satellite images. the ocean now files its own circulation report.

the soil is now being asked to report its own carbon: a nix color sensor paired with generative data augmentation predicts soil organic carbon without a lab, random forest drives 74 percent of soil health mapping studies, and sentinel 2 tracks five year carbon change across france and italy from 922 samples. the dirt now files its own carbon account.
