the top github trending repo right now is a security skill, not a model. cloudflare's security-audit-skill led the september 19 chart, teaching coding agents to audit their own output before it ships.
the agent market is now selling skills, not just weights.
Context
The cloudflare/security-audit-skill repository is a multi-phase security-audit skill for coding agents (recon, hunt, validate, report, structured output, independent verification), MIT licensed and created on 18 June 2026; it had 2,665 stars when read. Trendshift says it was first number one on GitHub Trending on 16 September 2026, and a secondary blog dated 20 September says it rose to the top of GitHub Trending.
The repo is real and listed as trending by secondary trackers. Led the September 19 chart is not shown: trackers say number one from 16 September and none inspected shows 19 September specifically. Star counts from different windows (2,665 and 23.9k on gittrend) are unreconciled and prove no ranking. The README describes auditing a repository for vulnerabilities, so teaching agents to audit their own output is a looser reading.

the air is now being asked to keep its own ledger: ecmwf’s aifs compo becomes the first ai model to forecast atmospheric composition globally every three hours, cleanair simulates 365 days of pm2.5 over china in ten seconds, and a unified framework maps six pollutants at one kilometer across the whole country. the air now files its own composition report.

the current is now being asked to draw its own map: china’s langya 2.0 predicts six ocean phenomena including internal waves and mesoscale eddies, a deep net called wenhai resolves eddies globally with air sea flux formulas built in, and scripps infers surface currents from the way temperature patterns deform in satellite images. the ocean now files its own circulation report.

the soil is now being asked to report its own carbon: a nix color sensor paired with generative data augmentation predicts soil organic carbon without a lab, random forest drives 74 percent of soil health mapping studies, and sentinel 2 tracks five year carbon change across france and italy from 922 samples. the dirt now files its own carbon account.
